Our Model

Our starting point in becoming Miami Hypnosis and Therapy began with an interest in the growing body of research and practice that explores the benefits of use of hypnosis as an adjunct to contemporary cognitive behavioral psychotherapy.
Anna Marchenko founded MHT after attending graduate school at Columbia University, NY and working in the mental health field in both New York City and Miami with the philosophy that she could empower people to enhance their lives.

At MHT we integrate cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with hypnosis and neuro linguistic programming (NLP). This model targets conscious and subconscious beliefs, and sets out from the position that people have within them the capacity for change.

Integration of CBT, NLP, and hypnosis offers many advantages, including shortening the duration of treatment, enabling therapist and client to identify and replace deeply rooted conscious and unconscious beliefs, and inducing deep relaxation among others. The CBT is a solid evidence based and comprehensively researched model. Whereas hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness, under which we can use any type of psychotherapeutic framework including CBT. Neuro-linguistic programming seeks to build effective communication between conscious and unconscious mental processes to help people increase creativity and problem-solving skills.

While our approach seems simple enough, it is seldom used in practice because most hypnotists lack the educational and experiential qualifications of licensed therapists and are unable to use cognitive and behavioral interventions effectively. This lack of psychological training often results in confusion and poor clinical assessment. At the same time the majority of therapists do not receive training in clinical hypnosis at the graduate level and do not offer this service.

We treat a large variety of issues, including anxiety and phobias, trauma, addiction, eating disorders, mood disorders, smoking cessation, low self –esteem, relationship issues, as well as minority and social struggles. We have worked with athletes, artists, executives, students, and many other professionals who want to improve their performance and achieve their goals in highly competitive fields.
